		<description><![CDATA[Don't miss the Christmas tree lighting ceremonies in McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee on November 25, 2011.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="size-full wp-image-157 alignright" title="Christmas Tree" src="http://www.downtowncopperhill.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Christmas-Tree-sm.jpg" alt="Christmas Tree" width="150" height="197" />Celebrate the arrival of the Christmas season with the lighting up of the Copper Basin on <strong>November 25, 2011</strong>. The cities of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee have coordinated their festive lighting ceremonies to kick off the holidays. The evening will begin at 6 PM with a tree lighting at the United Community Bank in McCaysville, Georgia. It will then proceed along with carolers to the next stop at the Copperhill, Tennessee branch of BB &amp; T where another tree lighting ceremony will be held. On to Miners Park for the lighting of the Copperhill Yule tree and last but not least is the lighting of the wreath on the Old Steel Bridge.</p>
<p>This event coincides with the opening of the Copper Basin Christmas Village where there will be festivities going on every Friday and Saturday evenings starting at 5:30 PM through December 17, 2011. Stores will be open late and carolers will be singing, not to mention Santa will be in town located at <em>Christmas is Here.</em></p>

Dress up in your best Halloween costume and compete for prizes. Registration begins at 4:15 PM in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville. Prizes will be awarded by age groups, with other prizes for best group costume, best dressed pet, best float and more. You must be registered to compete. 1st place medals will be given to winners in each age group. Judging will begin at 4:30 PM in the church parking lot. Winners will be announced at 4:50 PM and will head the parade that will start at 5 PM. The parade will head down Toccoa Avenue/Ocoee Street and end at BB &amp; T Bank. Children will be able to collect treats from downtown merchants after the parade from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Don&#8217;t miss your chance to compete for some prizes in the annual Scream Contest that will take place at 6 PM outside the United Community Bank in McCaysville.</p>

<p>Sign up to test your BBQ skills. The contest is open to backyard grillers only &#8211; no professionals. Cooks begin smoking at 4 PM on Friday, September 23, 2011. A bluegrass band will play Friday night beginning at 7 PM. Judges will begin their job on Saturday at 3 PM. Awards will be presented at 5 PM followed by music and dancing on the bridge.</p>
<p>Prizes will be awarded in 5 different food categories &#8211; Beef Brisket, Chicken, Ribs, Pork Butt, and desserts.</p>

This annual event will run from <strong>September 13 through September 17, 2011</strong> at the Showbarn on Highway 411 in Benton, Tennessee.</p>
<p>There will be rides, animal shows, karaoke, gospel and bluegrass music, along with other displays and exhibits. The fair will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6 PM to 10 PM. Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM.</p>
<p>The Polk County Fair is the last free fair in the state of Tennessee. With no admission and free entertainment nightly, what better way for the family to spend an evening?</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Join in the fun at the 2nd annual Copper Basin River Fest in McCaysville, Georgia/Copperhill, Tennessee on August 20, 2011.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>All kinds of fun races, from bikes to rubber ducks, will be had at the Copper Basin River Fest in McCaysville, Georgia / Copperhill, Tennessee on <strong>August 20, 2011</strong> beginning at 7 AM.</p>
<p>The first race of the day is the Adult Bike Race. This race begins at Horseshoe Bend Park at 7 AM and ends at the Copperhill Baseball Park. There is a $10 entry fee. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.</p>
<p>The Kid&#8217;s Bicycle Race begins at 8:30 AM at Horseshoe Bend Park. It is a race for children ages 6 to 12. There is a $5 entry fee. Prizes will be given to all children.</p>
<p>Next up is the Business Kayak Race at 10 AM. It begins at Horseshoe Bend Park and ends at Blue Ridge Mountain Kayaking. Entry fee is $50. A trophy will be awarded to the winning business and will be up for grabs next year. Prizes will also be awarded for 2nd and 3rd place.</p>
<p>A Tube Race will start at 3 PM. Put your tubes in at McCaysville City Park and race to Blue Ridge Mountain Kayaking. Entry fee is $20. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded.</p>
<p>The last race of the day is at 6 PM and is the Rubber Duck Race. Purchase a duck from a local merchant, put it in the river at McCaysville City Park and the first one to cross the finish line at the Old Steel Bridge wins! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded.</p>

Friday evening, <strong>July 1, 2011</strong> starts the weekend out with a fireworks display from atop Tater Hill in McCaysville, Georgia beginning around 9:30 PM. You can see the fireworks from most areas of town. Stores and restaurants will be open late so come to town early, grab a bite to eat, and settle in to watch the fireworks show!</p>
<p>Saturday, <strong>July 2, 2011</strong> in Ducktown, Tennessee will be a busy day with a full day of events celebrating the Ducktown Miners Homecoming. The day starts out with the 10th annual Hoist House pancake breakfast. It continues with a patriotic walking parade, Open House at Glenn Springs, Easter Star Soup Bean Dinner at the Ducktown Masonic Lodge, a rubber duck race, a classic car cruise-in, fun for kids all day, music and finally fireworks!</p>
<p>Monday, <strong>July 4, 2011</strong> is an Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration in Etowah, Tennessee. There will be a pancake breakfast, a 5K road race, food and craft vendors, rides and games for the kids, music, and a gigantic display of fireworks.</p>

<p>Mountain Faith is a family of Bluegrass musicians from North Carolina whose strong faith and devotion to the Lord is the base that leads them in their music. If you like Allison Krauss, you are sure to like the vocals of Summer Brooke McMahan, the female singer of Mountain Faith!</p>
