The Copperhill Opry

The city of Copperhill has teamed up with a company called Copperhill Enterprises to bring music and entertainment to the Copperhill community. The Copperhill Opry is a national historic landmark and is now going to be used for events such as concerts, plays, recitals and more with the main focus being family entertainment.

The founders of Copperhill Enterprises are Ferris Maloof and Danny Davenport. Both of these men have deep roots in the Copperhill area. Mr. Maloof runs his family business, “Maloofs on the Corner” in downtown Copperhill. Mr. Davenport grew up in Copperhill/McCaysville and still has family living there. He left the area after school and worked at United Artists and then Warner Bros. in Atlanta, Georgia until retiring. He worked with many music recording artists throughout his career. They joined forces because of their love of the community and want to help make Copperhill a valuable destination for those who seek entertainment in the North Georgia Mountains.

Coming up in the spring of 2011 is a Golden Oldies Concert Series featuring Billy Joe Royal. Stay tuned for more details on this event.

The 1st Storyteller event coming to the Copperhill Opry features Walter Carter, the author of Gibson Guitars-100 Years of an American Icon. He will tell the story of the creator of the Gibson guitar, Orvil Gibson and the history of the guitars he created. More details to follow.
